This advertisement for the De Havilland Comet, the world’s first commercial jet airliner, is full of optimism in 1949 when the plane had not yet flown. Terence Cuneo is the artist.

From 1959, this powerful advertisement uses colour to impress – but also humour. The bottle is celebrating its role in the safe arrival of a hundred new Britons per hour into the world.

If you are a Scottish brand, why not flaunt it? Dewar’s White Label provided a striking and appropriate image to promote its Scotch Whisky.

A simple but highly effective 1952 advertisement for the Scottish fashion house Daly and Sons of Glasgow. The copy is effusive, but the image of classic elegance draws the reader in.
